Paya Introduces Small Business Friendly Payment Platform

Paya has just introduced a new solution for your small business clients that takes payments in multiple locations on multiple devices. Paya Connect The company touts its new Paya Connect for both its connectivity and easy integration with the tools your clients or your business already uses, but more importantly, the security of the payments it processes. Small Business Trends contacted Greg Cohen President of Paya, to learn more about this product that’s already used by over 100,000 businesses to process a total of $27 billion every year. He wrote in an email about how the new product includes an innovative security twist. Secure and Automated   “Our technology also allows for secure and automated connectivity between other software and our platform. For example, if a customer wants to put a credit card on file for recurring payments, you’re actually calling a set of APIs that invokes a token – not sensitive information like a full card holder number or a full ACH routing number – but a token that represents that information.” Paya Connect securely stores these tokens. It even automatically updates expired debit and credit cards. Important features for the small business owner that shies away from administrative tasks but worries about security.  Effective for a Wide Variety of Different Businesses   The product works with a wide variety of different businesses as well as non-profits, schools and healthcare providers. It handles debit and credit cards, electronic funds, automated clearinghouse, and even flexible spending transactions. Cohen underlined the B2B angle and the firm’s desire to fill a need there. “At Paya, we’ve focused on providing a platform and technology for partners providing full software and commerce solutions for other businesses,” he wrote. “There are many solutions for consumer-facing businesses, but we found a strong, unmet need among companies and developers who are creating robust payments technology and commerce enablement for their own business customers.” He also pointed out they do well with ERP (business automation) solutions, and manufacturing, distribution and wholesale software developers. Includes Some Big Advantages   One of the other big advantages for small businesses are…

Square Solutions Partners Service Aimed at Small Businesses

Square (NYSE: SQ) just announced a new Solutions Partner Program to help sellers connect with service providers that can help them with things like ecommerce integrations, scaling and choosing POS software. A Look at the Square Solutions Partner Program Agencies and service providers can apply to become a part of the Square Solutions Partner Program and receive early access to beta products, specialized account management, and additional financial benefits. And then businesses that are in need of those services, particularly new and growing businesses, can easily work with Square-approved companies if they so choose. There are a few different types of partnerships: mobile and web agencies that help businesses develop unique online and mobile commerce experiences through product integrations, systems integrators who help sync and simplify the back end of scaling a business, and resellers who identify and help to implement the best point of sale hardware and software options for each business. So this news could have an impact on businesses from a couple of different angles. First, if your specialty falls within one of those partner areas, you could sign up with Square and potentially reap the benefits of connecting with new customers and expanding your offerings. But even if your business doesn’t fall into those categories, businesses that use Square offerings could potentially benefit by connecting with Square approved partners anytime you’re in need of one of those services. The announcement is an extension of the company’s existing App Marketplace. The difference is that now these partners can provide solutions that are completely customized to each business. Square Global Partnerships Lead Pankaj Bengani said in a company release, “The App Marketplace now boasts hundreds of partners that help boost productivity and sales, but growing Square sellers often seek a partner to build custom solutions for their business. The Solutions Partner Program doubles down on our commitment to build a strong partnership platform. Small Businesses in Wilmington, NC Prepare for Worst of Hurricane Florence

Hurricane Florence is slogging its way toward the North and South Carolina coastline. But in one community smack in the middle of the cone of uncertainty, small restaurant owners are telling Flo to kiss their grits … or fondue. As it sits now just off the coast of Wilmington, NC, Florence is a Category 2 hurricane. That’s a dramatic change from Wednesday afternoon, when it was listed as a major Category 4 storm. Small Business Impact of Hurricane Florence However, the downgrade isn’t reducing much of the risk to small businesses in the path of the storm. Flooding and storm surge remain a very dangerous threat to these businesses — threats that could put some companies, sadly, out of business forever. In a tweet Thursday morning, the National Hurricane Center warned residents in the affected areas not to get a false sense of security now that Flo is a Category 2 storm. “Do not focus on the wind speed category of #Hurricane #Florence! Life-threatening storm surge flooding, catastrophic flash flooding and prolonged significant river flooding are still expected,” the agency insisted. Restaurants in Wilmington Prepare for Hurricane Florence At around 6 p.m. Wednesday, the owners of Little Dipper Fondue published this celebratory post to their Facebook following: “And…. done! Flo sho! Now we can only wish that the penny on the road brings luck to us and those businesses around us!” In a late-night message to Small Business Trends, owners of Little Dipper Fondue summed up the experience, saying, “It’s been a whirlwind of emotions!” One of the last businesses open in Wilmington on Wednesday was extra busy. It’s reported that Goody Goody Omelet House kept extra staff on hand the day before Florence was expected to make…
